The previously mentioned diets can help you lose between 5-10kilo (10-20 pounds). some people have managed to lose 20-30 kilo (40-60 pounds) in 3-4 months on these diets. This is quite the impressive feat. However, as we already know it is not hard to lose weight. The difficulty is found in keeping that weight from returning. After most people stop using these diets they will normally gain back 30-50% of the weight that they lost in the first year. More than that, these diets are hard to maintain and can cause ketosis, skin dryness, hair loss and in 25% of cases dieters will develop cholelithiasis.

What about fasting days? Fasting days are good, but only if you do them no more that once or twice per week. In one fasting day you can lose from 500gr to 1 kilo. It is very convenient to fast for weight loss and detoxification if you know that you overeat a little on a daily basis and can’t change that fact for some reason.

There are seven days in a week, and it is perfectly alright to make one of them into a fasting day. This is not a good long term weight loss technique if used more often than that, however. It is not possible to lose weight solely by fasting without doing harm to your body if you fast for more than one or two days per week.
